New Additions to our family!

Welcome to the world Ricky Lee!

Last Tuesday, the 15th, our 2nd great-grandchild arrived in Ohio. A baby boy, checking in at 7lbs. 7oz. and 19½ inches long. We are anxiously awaiting pictures. We had hoped that Jim would be assigned into that area when the baby was due, so we could be there. Sadly, that just didn't work out. All we know so far other than his birth stats is that he has lots and lots of dark hair.
We also adopted another new family member last week. Her name is Sassy (Sassafrass), and she is believed to be about 2 years old. We brought her home on Saturday evening, and of course the first thing she did was run and hide.

She found a way up under the bed in the coach. Jim had to block her out of there and once that was done, she found another place to hide at the front of the coach. I don't know how she did it, but she managed to get herself in the wall behind the driver's console. Jim had to take the whole thing apart to get her out. The first night she chose to hide behind the dash board. On Sunday morning we found that she had found her way up inside the dash behind the backup monitor. Out came the screwdriver again and Jim took the covers off the dash to get her out of there.

She came out from behind the dash several times during the day Sunday and made fast friends with Tasha (the dog). She has obviously been around dogs before. She went to her like they were old friends from a previous life. Sunday night she slept close to Tasha, but not quite on her pillow with her. It's as if she knows that's Tasha's special place to go when she wants to just be left alone. Monday, Sassy did lots of exploring and slept on the foot of our bed. PROGRESS! We had to put her food up on the bedroom dresser to keep Tasha from eating it all. Even though we managed to find corn free cat food, it's still probably not good for the dog to eat it. (Tasha is allergic to corn) Sassy is getting more lovable as the days go by, and when she wants something she comes to you and cries, then sits up like a dog would to beg. I'm wondering if someone has trained her to do other things too. I suppose we'll find out as time goes on.

Saturday, we took a drive to Sierra Trading Post in Cheyenne, Wyoming. WOW! I had a blast. They're still my favorite store on the Internet, and now anytime I get the opportunity to go to their store, I will!

Cheyenne is a pretty nice town. I didn't see any major chain type stores there. I was hoping to be able to go for Fontier Days, however that was over on August 1st. We just missed it. From the flyers we've seen, it looks like it was a wonderful celebration.

There's so much close by where we are to do, I just don't know what to do next! I think a ride thru Rocky Mountain National Park might be the order of this weekend coming up. Maybe we should go again in a few weeks after the first snowfall up there. The website claims an abundance of wildlife, including Elk, mule deer, moose, bighorn sheep, black bears, coyotes, cougars, eagles, mountain lions, and more. Hopefully, we'll see some of them and get some good shots with the camera. Since Trail Ridge Road closes around the beginning of October, we'll surely want to visit that area this week.
That's all for now. More after this coming weekend.
