Satisfaction.... to a point

Well, American Reliable/American Security Insurance agreed to take care of the roof on the coach. After sitting in one dealership in Jackson, Georgia for 2 weeks with nothing accomplished other than estimates flying back and forth, we had to come down to Byron because the dealership in Jackson went out of business while we were there and closed their doors. Thank goodness we weren't inside with the roof already torn off. We dropped the coach off this past Tuesday to have the new roof put on, and we are in a hotel until it's done. It's close, and should be done by Monday. However, the service people shattered our windshields yesterday and now we have to wait for new windshields to be installed sometime this week coming up.

This whole process has been a nightmare. The truck is well and they did a beautiful job repairing it. The Hummer on the other hand... well, let me just say that they messed up ROYALLY on that. We got a call a week and a half ago that it was ready, and we drove to Union city to get it. There was a minor glitch with the truck that had to be taken care of, so we left it while we took the Hummer to go get something to eat. We never made it off the parking lot when the dash warning came on for the four-wheel drive module. I opened the glove box to get the owners manual and see what the warning light meant. The owners' manual and everything else in the glove box was soaked through and through. We went on to eat, and got the manager when we returned. He took it to the GM dealer and they found a module in the dash that was wet and needed to be replaced.

While we sat - waiting and thinking - it occurred to me that there might be a lot more wet than just that area. It was not wet when we took it to them. There was hail damage on it, but no glass had been broken and the hail had not penetrated to the interior of the car. I decided to go out and double check the inside of the car for anything else that might be wet. When I put my hand under the mud mats, the floor was soaked through. Jim began tearing things apart to get under the carpet right there on the lot. It was soaked through to the floorboards. I got the manager again. He was sure that we needed to leave it and let them get things dried out. We did. Now, mind you, that gave us another week to think on the situation. It has for certain been decided that when the roof was cut off, someone for whatever reason, pulled the car outside, and apparently another rainstorm came along and flooded the whole car. If it hadn't the inside of the dash area wouldn't have been wet. That, at least has been agreed upon by all.

We got a call to come and get it this past Thursday. Things are still not working and they've had to order new modules for the OnStar system, telephone and a new rear view mirror assembly. Whenever Jim got a car in the shop that had gotten that wet, it was totalled. We are very concerned that now we will have module after module going bad and the car should be totalled and the dealer where it is should either pay us for the car or replace it with comparable. I'd be OK with either, though I'd prefer they just pay for the car. And I don't mean trade value, I mean retail value. We'll go and talk seriously with them on Monday and see what they want to do about this mess.

It's just been a crappy year so far - it's got to start improving soon....
The loss of 2 family members, a good friend, and the dog, Jim being out of work, the hail situation and all the repair errors trying to get things back to normal. I'm about cried out and ready to just say the heck with it all.

Anyway, that's where we stand as of right now, and we sit in a hotel in Byron, Georgia and wait. It's all we can do for the moment. Light a candle, say a prayer - keep us in your thoughts - we need it. It's got to get better!
